Quiet Machines

The brief

Kinetik’s new instrument is beautiful up close and invisible from across a room. The launch film had to open a keynote and make an audience of engineers lean forward.

The approach

We built a black-box set and programmed a motion-control rig to glide across the product at a few millimeters a second. Every move was repeatable, so light passes could be layered in post.

The sound mix was built from recordings of the real mechanism, slowed and stretched until each click felt enormous. The film opened the keynote and now runs in every retail display.
